"I Love You with My W(hole) Heart" 2025 Oil on Canvas 50cm x 60cm
As the first work in my solo exhibition “Leaving, Lovingly,” this piece features a solitary figure in soft pink turned inward against a saturated red ground, her chest marked by a deliberate heart-shaped void.
The cut-out plays on loving with your “whole” heart while revealing its cost. It reflects on love as both completion and depletion - how we carve pieces from ourselves to build something shared, drawn to what feels familiar and fixable, mistaking potential for compatibility.
What remains of a relationship sustained by sacrifice once the unrequited giving ends? The work lingers in that question.
Captured by the title is the shift from whole to hole - a reminder that loving someone without measure can leave your own heart in need of repair.
