"Equanimity" 2026 Oil on Canvas 50cm x 60cm

"Equanimity" describes a state of emotional steadiness - not the absence of feeling, but the ability to remain composed within it. Thus, the figure sits folded inward, her eyes closed and expression subdued. Her posture suggests restraint, not as an act of avoidance, but as a way of holding the weight of what she feels without allowing it to control her.

The contrast between the saturated red ground and the figure's softened pink form heightens this tension: an intense emotional landscape held beneath an exterior of stillness.

As part of "Leaving, Lovingly", the piece reflects on the quieter strength of remaining centred when emotions threaten to pull you away from yourself - or back towards something that is no longer there.
